A NUMBER of cattle farmers in Ward Three of Chipinge District are grappling with water shortages for their livestock as natural water sources in the area continue to dry up.

Ward Three comprises of Nyunga, Goko and Musani villages.

To augment the dire situation, some villagers have resorted to other means of supplementing the water needs of their cattle.

A visit to the area by The Manica Post today witnessed some villagers pumping water from local boreholes for their livestock.

The affected villagers are appealing to the Government and development partners for assistance in providing sustainable water sources as a solution to the problem.

Without such intervention, the villagers said, they may be forced to cut down on their herd owing to the insufficient water supplies.
