Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Kirsty Coventry has confirmed that the Warriors 2021 AFCON home qualifier against Algeria will be played outside the country.

This is despite last minute efforts by various stakeholders that saw work being done on the National Sports Stadium in Harare and Barbourfields in Bulawayo with the hope that Zimbabwe would be allowed to play at home.

Coventry confirmed the development on her official twitter account saying that ZIFA failed to give assurances to CAF that the that the work being done will safeguard our national teams playing home games in Zimbabwe.

The latest developments mean that the Warriors will likely play their match against Algeria at the end of this month at Orlando stadium in South Africa.

Coventry said the ownership of the National Sports Stadium has since been transferred from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Housing to her ministry.
