AN 18-year old Honde Valley man must have been possessed when he pounced on an innocent woman and a toddler, struck them using a wooden log several times on their heads before leaving them dead while lying in a pool of blood on the spot.

When The Manica Post visited Rori village under Headman Samanga, Chief Mutasa, less than 5km kilometres from Hauna Growth Point, villagers were still battling to come to terms with the cold blood murder of 30-year old Regina Chibate and her four year old sister’s son Walter Nyagano at the hands of Clayton Dekaurendo (18).

Aaron Chibate, uncle to the late Regina Chibate, said the late Chibate and her four-year-old sister’s son were just passing by Dekaurendo homestead where the assailant had just had an altercation with his uncle.

“It was around 6pm in the evening when this incident occurred.

“My deceased daughter and her four-year old sister’s son were passing by Dekaurendo homestead where the assailant had just had an altercation with his uncle.

“In the midst of their quarrel, his uncle ran away and Dekaurendo just dashed out of the yard only to pounce on innocent passersby who had nothing to do with the dispute between him and his uncle.

“We are still in a state of shock. We really do not know what led him to commit this crime.

“We have never had differences as families and the two people he killed had nothing to do with the dispute they were having in their own home.

“They were just passing bay                        the Dekaurendo homestead,” he said.
