Two family members killed in accident

TRAGEDY struck a Rusape family after two of its members perished in a car accident in the early hours of last Saturday morning along the Harare-Mutare Highway.

Mr Paul Katsande was driving from his rural home in Mutoko after collecting his children who had gone there for holiday when tragedy struck.

Police confirmed the accident that claimed the lives of Dominic (15) and Loveness (4) Katsande  which happened near the Rusape Tollgate.

Rusape District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean, said Mr Katsande who was driving a Toyota Wish vehicle lost control of the vehicle which was carrying seven family members and it veered off the road and rolled several times before landing on its roof.

“Paul Katsande (41) was driving a Toyota Wish vehicle towards Rusape with seven family members on board.  When Katsande approached the 154km peg, he lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road and rolled several times before landing on its roof.

“All on board were injured and rushed to Rusape General Hospital by other passing motorists.

“Dominic and Loveness died on admission. Sarudzai Katsande (mother to the late children) was seriously injured while others are in a stable condition.

“Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident. As police we continue to urge the motoring public that where possible drivers must avoid night travelling,” said Asst Insp Clean.

Meanwhile, Dominic and Loveness were laid to rest in Mutoko on Tuesday.
