THE Tropical Depression Ana, which caused heavy rains and strong winds in Manicaland Province over the last three days after it made a landfall early this week, has weakened significantly and is no loner causing extreme weather conditions.

In a statement today, the Meteorological Services Department said: “Out of the rainfall that fell over the country yesterday, all amounts were below 50mm with the highest being Binga (47mm). There are less clouds over much of the country, but of note is the presence of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone over Southern Zambia into Malawi and Mozambique.

“We are still in the main rain season (as well as the south west Indian Ocean Cyclone Season), thus more rainfall is anticipated.”

The MSD said they will continue monitoring and keep the public informed of all weather events that may affect the country.
