DETECTIVES in Chipinge have arrested three men who were found in possession of a tone of Tel One telecommunications cables worth more than $500 000.
The trio – Misheck Masunungure (50), Amterk Mutumwa (54) and Luke Smoko (52) – was arrested following an ongoing blitz against criminals that are vandalising Zesa, Tel One and NRZ infrastructure.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the arrests.
“Detectives received a tip off on April 8 that the three accused persons wanted to transport the cables from Middle Sabi to Chibuwe. The patrol team teamed up with Tel One employees from Chipangayi and led an ambush at around 2am,” he said.
