BUSINESSES that are making tremendous strides in the province were recently honoured at this year’s Megafest Eastern Region business awards held at a local hotel.

This year’s awards saw a blend of new blood and perennial achievers being honoured for their exceptional works in their respective lines of businesses.

Secretary for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Edgars Seenza, scooped the Chief Executive Officer of the Year Award; while entrepreneur, Mr Francis Dongo, won the platinum award in the Male Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Manica Skyview School of Hospitality and Tourism scooped the Community Social Responsibility Award; while Manicaland National Arts Council regional director, Ms Caroline Makoni, won the Manager of the Year platinum award.

In the Customer Focus Award of the Year category, Cashel Valley scooped the gold award, while the Financial Institution Supporting SMEs Award went to AFC Commercial Bank.

Guardian Security Services came out tops with a gold award in the Security Innovation and Responsiveness of the Year category; while Utande scooped platinum in the same category.

Tourism resort, Troutberk Resort, were honoured with a diamond award in the Award of Excellence of the Year category.

In the Young Executive of the Year award category, Mr Finos Kagurabadza of Mutare Cake Guru Bakery won a gold award; while Ms Abigail Mushunje of Plush World Baby and Kids Shop won the platinum award.

In the local authority leader of the year category, Nyanga Rural District Council’s chief executive officer, Dr Zefania Jaravaza won a gold award, while City of Mutare’s acting Town Clerk, Mr Blessing Chafesuka, scooped the diamond award.

Some of the winners interviewed said they were elated to be part of the province’s top achievers.
Utande Mutare branch manager, Mr Samuel Mamwadi said: “We are delighted to win this award, and we want to thank Megafest for this initiative that recognises individuals and organisations who have excelled in business.

“As an organisation, we believe that any change-capable organisation should be innovative, and this is the space that we are in. We have the task of developing and implementing new ways of engaging and assisting our customers so that we can enable them to disrupt and dominate the markets that they are operating in.”

Ms Makoni, fondly known as Arts Bae, said: “It’s an honour being recognised with the prestigious award. I would like to thank all players in the arts industry as well other stakeholders who have assisted me and the association in the drive to scale the arts industry to dizzy heights. We will continue to work collectively and bring more positive results.”
