MANICALAND’s gospel stars, Agatha Murudzwa and Dorcas Moyo have cleared the air on the assumptions that they don’t see eye-to-eye.
While music is sometimes a game of rivalries, the two have revealed that as servants in the vineyard, they are on the same mission of preaching the word of God through music.
Agatha Murudzwa is currently riding high with a soulful album, ‘Ikem/God of Power’, while Moyo is rocking the air waves with a 10-track album, ‘Bvudzi Rangu Ramera’.
“Our relationship is not sour. People talk and there is nothing we can do about that. On and off duty we are good friends and we wish each other the best.
“In the gospel music fraternity, we are servants in the vineyard. In fact, we are actually planning something together. There is no bad blood between us,” said Agatha.
She added: “The journey has been fantastic and I am overwhelmed by the response my album ‘Ikem’ has received so far. It is encouraging that both the electronic and print media has been supporting the mission.”
Dorcas, speaking through his manager, Peter Madondo, said: “By and large, we are in a very good and sound relationship with Agatha. Agatha is Dorcas’ sister and they share and chat a lot.

“The two are literally sisters and l am absolutely sure there is no impasse between the two. We have sound relationships.” he said.
Madondo added: “Our new album has actually surpassed our expectations. We are truly humbled by the achievements. It is possibly the best performing album from our stable and we pray that we maintain the levels.”
ln December last year, the musicians held two separate shows on the same day in Mutare, an incident which sparked debate among fans from both camps and raised assumptions that the two are not in good books as they had to share fans.
Dorcas was at Golden Peacock, while Agatha was at Courtauld Theatre.
Dorcas’ management had to call off the show while Agatha continued.
Added Madondo: “Gone are the days when musical outfits were run haphazardly. In this 21st Century, there is need to manage them professionally. Besides ministering and providing entertainment, we are also running a business. As such, some business decisions have to be made.
“Our decision to call off the show was purely premised on business grounds. As a band we had made several financial engagements prior to that show and given the fact that we were not stable and were likely going to fail to honor our financial obligations, it was only wise to shelve the show for future dates which we believe will happen one of these good days.”
Agatha recently held successful shows in Chimoio in the neighbouring Mozambique.
She has two shows lined up for Harare and Norton next month.
