AS fashionistas we seem to concentrate mostly on clothes and shoes. Things like hats and caps are for special occasions or for men. But in winter this is not so.

With the cold air and wind circulating around our ears especially early mornings and late afternoons, it is almost a necessity to have some form of a hat. Luckily for us, there is no shortage of everyday hats and caps for everyone to wear.

I particularly do not like wearing winter hats everyday or the whole day because it flattens my hair. But the cold weather drove me to the market place where, I recently found some creative and sassy looking woollen and crochet hats at such a low price.

I returned home with enough hats, scarves and gloves to last me for ages. The nice thing with winter hats is that they do not go out of fashion. New styles might be introduced, but the material stays the same; woollen, knitted, fur and crochet as well as other authentic material.

The styles are numerous, from Dobby hats, to Newsboy hats, to beanies to Hemp hats. There is a hat to suit every character, colour and shape. And if you do not want to buy a hat, then crochet or knit your own. It is quite simple and you can make whatever design you like.

There is, however, a catch to choosing your winter head gear and this is your head shape. Yes, unlike summer hats which go with your face, winter hats go with the head shape.

Some hats will make you look quite deformed, while others will make you look so cute. It is important for you to carry a mirror with you when you go shopping for hats at the market. Why? Well, because I found out that while I was shopping, the person behind the table kept telling me that every hat I wore was nice on me.

When I eventually found a mirror, I was horrified to see that most of the hats I had chosen made me look terrible. I made sure to express my disappointment at the sales rep who then changed her story forcing me to take them all because they were cheap kkkk. Anyway, I eventually found some really nice hats, some for work and others for the weekend.

That is another thing to remember, winter hats seem to work for any occasion. However, wearing a hat in the office with rabbit ears is not okay. It might be cute as you walk to work or travel back home, but it is not okay at the office. It is the same with wearing muffins over your ears or attached to your hat. Because they cover your ears, you will not be able to hear properly and secondly because muffins give the same impression to the one looking at you as someone who is plugging earphones at work.

Unless you are working on your own, this is considered bad-etiquette and rude.

Well, there you have it readers, happy winter shopping. Until next week, God Bless!
