The Holy Qur’aan speaks: Forgiving others Holy Qur’aan

The ManicaPost

“PARDON and forgive one another. Do you not love that The Almighty forgives you? Indeed He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Chapter 24 : 22 )

As humans, we all make mistakes.

Many a times we err with no direct intent to do so, but at times unfortunately, due to our weaknesses, we intentionally transgress in one way or another.

We must understand that there are two types of transgression and in each case when committed, we burden ourselves with an anxiety and stress which can only be removed by seeking forgiveness.

The first is that which is committed directly against The Almighty Himself — violating His commands and requirements.

Regarding this type of sin we have been taught that upon repentance to Him, we will be pardoned by Him and thus become free of it.

The second type of sin is that which is committed against fellow humans.

In such case, we need to go up to them and seek forgiveness from them, in order to liberate ourselves and be able to move forward in life.

Here, we are reminded that whenever a person has wronged us and comes up to us seeking forgiveness we should forgive them and not hold back.

Effectively this practice of forgiving and seeking forgiveness should work as a “two way” traffic system.

Such practice is most helpful in community building (and nation building).

In fact even within families if this attitude and practice are adopted, the bond and mutual co-operation will be surely strengthened in an amazing manner.

One of the greatest qualities of The Almighty is that He is Most Forgiving.

We should bear this in mind and consider the fact that we would like Him to forgive our shortcomings.

Surely, we would not want Him to hold back from forgiving us.

Thus by forgiving others we stand a better chance of being forgiven by The Almighty, as well as those whom we may have wronged in some way or another.
