The Holy Qur’aan speaks: Basic business morals Holy Qur’aan

The ManicaPost

“DO not consume the wealth of one another unjustly, rather let it be trade by mutual consent.” (Chapter 4:29)

Each individual needs to earn in order to survive.

This can be done either through employment or business.

If we allow greed to overtake us then surely we will develop unacceptable habits which we will soon regret.

Stealing, cheating, deceiving, over-charging, and breaking the law in order to earn an extra dollar or a “quick buck” will only result in our downfall sooner or later!

We will obviously live in the constant fear and anxiety of being caught out.

This self-inflicted punishment becomes a torment in our lives and as our stress levels are increased, we become ever so agitated at anything and everything.

This situation can easily be avoided by ensuring that our business dealings are straight forward and clean.

If and when we are caught out, not only will we gain a bad reputation in society but untold humiliation and embarrassment.

Honest dealings and fair practices in all business dealings actually nurture feelings of mutual trust and confidence within community and society and help to achieve peace and contentment in one’s life.

Thus the basic business morals and ethics must be upheld at all times.

If we unjustly consume the wealth of others, what happiness or goodness do we expect from The Almighty?

We are taught to love for others what we love for ourselves.

So in the same way that we would not like others to cheat or deceive us in business, we too should stay away from such evil practices.

This is when the doors of “blessed sustenance” will be opened for us by The Almighty.
