Teens in court for theft

TWO Dangamvura, Mutare teenagers recently appeared in court facing charges of stealing property worth more than US$500.

 

The two pleaded guilty and were further remanded in custody.

 

Wisdom Chiwanza (18 )and Wisdom Chakandinakira (19) apperared before Magistrate Prisca Manhibi.

 

Mr Tafadzwa Chiwanza prosecuted.

 

The court heard that from May to July 2021, Chakandinakira was left at his brother Worship Chakandinakira’s house.

 

The teen then invited his friend Chiwanza to come over to the house.

 

The two allegedly connived and hatched a plan to steal property which included a deeper freezer, a television set, a generator, a welding machine, a grass cutter and a decoder.

 

The duo sold the property to various people on the pretext that they were looking for money for extra lessons.

 

“I was surprised when the police called me and asked me to bring the decoder l had bought from my brother’s friend. They said it was stolen property,” said Linda Mapfunde.

 

When asked why they had stolen the items, the teens revealed that they were on a mission to raise money to send a witch doctor in Ghana they had met online as they had been promised instant riches.

 

The total value of the stolen items is US500.

 

All the items were recovered at the Green Markets in Sakubva and Dangamvura.
