Frank Nyamupunga (27) of Zimunya also lost a cellphone and US$72 after the three suspects had hired his vehicle, a silver Honda Fit, Registration Number AFL 7520.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the robbery.
“Nyamupunga, who was parked at a supermarket, was approached by three male adults who hired him to go to Nyanga Turn-off. He charged them US$10 and they agreed on the fare.
“Upon reaching the Nyanga Turn-off, one of the suspects produced an unidentified item with a sound similar to that of a gunshot.
“Nyamupunga, in fear, stopped the car. One of the accused persons grabbed him and shoved him outside.
‘‘They stole a cellphone and US$72. They sped off in the car heading towards Harare,” said Inspector Muzondo.
