A CHIPINGE man was arrested for attempted murder after he stabbed a colleague several times all over the body, accusing him of buying a lot of beer as a way of showing off.

Police confirmed the incident which recently happened at Paidamoyo Junction in Chief Mutema’s area.

It is alleged that Amal Mundondo (19) approached Kangai Jimu (36) and told him that he and his friends were buying too much beer and showing off.

Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said Jimu tried to engage Mundondo in a conversation, all to no avail.

Mundondo threatened to deal with Jimu and his colleagues.

“Two hours later when Jimu was leaving the beer drinking joint, Mundondo emerged from one of the tuck-shops and approached him from behind. He grabbed Jimu and stabbed him with a knife all over the body.

“Jimu sustained four deep cuts on the left hand, four deep cuts on the chest, a deep cut on the right hand and another on the right eye. Mundondo fled from the scene, leaving Jimu bleeding profusely,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

When Mundondo got home, he told his father of the incident and the elderly man rushed to the scene.

He took Jimu to Chipinge District Hospital before making a police report.

Jimu was transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital where he was admitted.

His condition is reported to be serious.
