IN a rare combination ever to grace Mutare’s popular entertainment centre, Pick and Pay Supperrette, dancehall hottest property Soul Jah Love and love ballads specialist Pah Chihera will square it off tomorrow (Saturday) in a potential thriller.

While it is well documented that Jah Prayzah and Alick Macheso have performed at the venue more than any other artistes for the past two years, it will also be a special weekend for the two artistes who will be gracing music lovers in Mutare for the first time.

Apparently this will be Pah Chihera’s maiden visit to the eastern border city as an adult.

“The last time I was in Mutare, I was so tender that I don’t remember anything. I am so happy and honoured to have this opportunity to play in Mutare for the first time. You can imagine the feeling,” said the elated Chihera, real name Pamhidzai Tracy Mbirimi.

The anthemic soulful track Runonzi rudo drawn from her debut album is certainly going to send her fast-growing fans into ecstasy. Later during the night, award winning Mbare chanter Soul Jah Love, whose lyrical ingenuity is next to none, will have a chance to affirm his dancehall kingship to dancehall lovers in Mutare. Some of his popular songs include Handichabatika, Ndongosimudza Musoro, Tsvairai Nzira Yangu, Ndozvandomudira and Ndini Uya Uya.

Soul Jah Love, who has travelled to various European countries such as United Kingdom to “preach” his trademark signature “Hauite Hauite”, claims that his lyrics come from God and no one else.

The two artistes are expected to set the venue ablaze as from 6pm, said the show organisers.

“We will continue to engage various musicians in Zimbabwe to meet their local fans. We are happy with the support we have been getting. We are looking forward to hosting a bumper crowd as they date two promising artistes who are consistent and talented,” said the organisers.

Meanwhile, Alick Macheso will on August 31 stage a family show at the same venue that will see him and his entourage, Orchestra Mberikwazvo, performing during broad daylight for the first time.
