A HARARE-BASED businessman is ploughing back to the community that raised him by donating a kombi to St Mary’s Anglican Church in Mutare South as well as building clinics in the area. Mr Misheck Muzvongi also promised to fund various projects for women in Mutare South Constituency. He also donated bags of cement which will be used at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Chishakwe.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Mr Muzvongi, said: “This is one way of thanking the community that raised me. I saw it befitting to help it with developmental projects. I realised that the church has been experiencing transport problems for quite a long time.

“We decided to help with a kombi. I have also noted that there is a serious problem in accessing health points. People walk for about 8-10 kilometres to the nearest clinic, so I am also planning to build clinics around the constituency to ease the problem,” he said.

Mr Muzvongi also contributed in the construction of classroom blocks at Chishakwe Secondary and Chitakatira Secondary schools.

“We are planning to fund various projects in Mutare South. We engaged Steward Bank which will facilitate loans for women to start various projects. I am planning to pick five women from each village and I will fund their training programme in Gweru. After the training, Steward Bank will advance loans to them as capital to start various projects. The projects range from poultry, goats rearing and other things that generate income,” he said.

Mr Muzvongi said he would be working with traditional leaders in the area.

“We are targeting women who are 50 years and below. We also want to target serious people and traditional leaders we will help in that regard,” he said.

Manicaland Anglican Diocese Bishop,  Erick Ruwona, thanked Mr Muzvongi for helping the community. Bishop Ruwona said Mr Muzvongi’s gesture would help bring peace and tranquility in the area.
