IN the heart of South Africa, a Zimbabwean-born musical virtuoso is captivating audiences with his soulful melodies and genre blending prowess.

Bothwell Tatenda Mashava, fondly known as Shammahfit, is set to unveil his latest single, Hold On Me, today (Friday), thereby marking a new chapter in his musical journey.

Shammahfit, a Mutare-born artiste who has garnered acclaim, both locally and internationally, is humbled by the overwhelming support he has received.

The anticipation surrounding his new release is palpable as he prepares to share his musical tapestry through all music platforms and socials.

Renowned for the well-arranged track, I Need You More, a collaboration with South African artiste, LaSauce on the EP ‘Ace of Hearts’, Shammahfit believes his comeback has resonated well with fans.

This has seen him establishing a loyal following in South Africa and earning exceptional support from his homeland.

Reflecting on his artistic evolution, Shammahfit expressed gratitude for the remarkable support he got in his journey that began with small steps.

“It has been a rollercoaster journey that began with baby steps. I am truly grateful that my music is making an impact in two societies. The overwhelming support from my South African and Zimbabwean fans gives me the confidence to carry on,” he said.

The artiste, whose popularity is soaring with hits like Chekerera, Uya Uya, and Zazuze, traces his roots back to Mutare, where he went to Chancellor for his primary education before proceeding to St Augustine’s High School and Mutare Boy’s High School.

Shammahfit’s rise to prominence was not only confined to the world of music as during his high school days, he emerged as one of Manicaland’s stand-out basketball players, stealing the limelight with his athletic prowess.

Shammahfit’s dynamic vocal force is renowned for his genre blending style, infused with an unmistakable Afrobeat touch.
