Sakupwanya donates to Mutasa schools

FORMER SADC water resources strategist Dr Jefter Sakupwanya has donated science laboratory equipment worth over $200 000 to different schools in the remote constituency of Mutasa Central.

Schools that have benefited from the gesture include Junior Steps in Ward 20, Moyoweshumba Secondary, Domborutinhira Secondary, Bethania Secondary, Mbaza Secondary and Pafiwa High.

The laboratory equipment includes triple beam balances, force metres, test tube rakes, watch glass, magnet, surgical rubber gloves, tongs, beaker 500ml, wire gauze, voltmeter, beakers 100ml, a meter, capillary tubes, spirit lamps, first aid box, flat bottomed flask 100ml, test tube holders wooden handles, scale, horse shoe magnet, carbon electrodes, metal cathodes, bins, ZV battery and litmus paper.

Apart from the science laboratory equipment, Dr Sakupwanya has also played a pivotal role in the water reticulation at Watsomba and surrounding areas.

He has also championed the installation of a number of weirs as a water harvesting mechanism that is expected to turn part of the constituency into a greenbelt.

Dr Sakupwanya said his love for Mutasa Central went beyond political ambitions.

He said he had a duty to help transform lives for the better.

“I grew up in this place and I am duty bound to give back to the community that raised me. I have a responsibility to work towards development of Mutasa Central.

“There is need for infrastructural development in Mutasa Central. This is the reason why we will continue implementing developmental projects in this area. We want to see tangible development,” he said.
