Rusape police ban dangerous weapons Police in Chipinge and Chimanimani districts have banned the carrying of dangerous weapons in public places

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has temporarily banned the carrying of dangerous weapons in Rusape Police District following an upsurge of crimes in which weapons are being used such as armed robberies, rape, assault, murder and others.

Rusape Police District is the largest in Manicaland Province as it encompass Makoni and Buhera Districts.

 

Officer Commanding Rusape District, Chief Superintendent Goodwil Chinyanganya, in a public notice, said the ban will come into effect on July 1, 2021 and will be enforced for three months.

“I, Chief Superintendent Goodwill Chinyanganya, the Officer Commanding Rusape District, being the Regulating Authority for Rusape Police District in terms of Section 2 (4) of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act, Chapter 11.23 do hereby give a notice of temporary prohibition of carrying dangerous weapons whether openly or by concealment in a public space or public thoroughfare or public display in terms of Section 4 (1) of the said Act.

“The prohibition shall be from July 1, 2021 to October 1 2021 unless it is revoked earlier than October 1, 2021. The weapons which are subject to ban are catapult, machetes, axes, knobkerries, swords, knives, or daggers. Any traditional weapons such as spear or any other weapons whatsoever deemed to occasion public disorder or a breach of the peace in Rusape Police District,” read the notice.
