AN altercation over a girlfriend in Nyazura ended tragically after three men fatally assaulted a colleague last week on Saturday.
Alick Charles Mahati’s body was found lying in a pool of blood by the roadside a day after the altercation.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident.
“Moses Mutitsve, and the deceased went to Odzi to see the latter’s girlfriend.
“They later went to Darkhouse Night Club to drink beer.
“One of the suspects, Clemence Mashuku (34) who was accompanied by his colleague only identified as Washington quizzed the deceased about the girlfriend, whose name could not be ascertained.
“He also quizzed him why he was walking around with a machete. Mahati later surrendered the machete to the barman for safekeeping.
“An altercation ensued and Mahati struck Clemence with two big stones, and he sustained injuries on the right cheek,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
He added: “Mahati went to relieve himself outside the bar. The two suspects, Clemence and Washington followed him, and it is, however, not clear if they assaulted him.
“The following day, Washington was found dead, lying in a pool of blood near the bar.
“He had a deep cut on the right side of the neck.”
The suspects’ whereabouts are unknown, and police are appealing to members of the public with information leading to their arrest to contact their nearest police station.
