A MUTARE woman is demanding that her husband should be taken for anger management classes as his regular bouts of rage are affecting their family.

The woman, Soile Chatizwa, aired these sentiments when she applied for a protection order against her husband, Kudakwashe Chizi, before Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato on Monday.

She said Chizi is always angry and his anger is now affecting their matrimonial bliss.

She claimed that his anger is also haunting their two minor children.

“My children are also afraid of their father because he is always angry. When he is angry, you just cannot reason with him. At times he assaults me for trying to initiate a conversation with him. I think the only solution is for this court to order him to try and manage his anger as I have had enough of his tantrums,” she said.

Chatizwa further begged the court to bar her husband from visiting her parents’ home.

She claimed that whenever he visits them, they will be at loggerheads.

“Each time he visits, he causes chaos. At times he assaults me in their presence. Because of this, my family no longer feels comfortable to have him at their place. On top of it all, he has not paid even a cent as my bride price, yet he has the guts to visit my parents’ home and assault me in their presence.

“If he wants to visit my parents, he should pay part of the bride price first,” she said.

In his response, Chizi confirmed that he indeed has moments when he gets angry for no reason.

He said the best way to deal with him when he is angry is to leave him alone.

“I admit that I am always angry, but I never bother anyone when I am angry. I only assaulted her once. In fact, my beer had been laced with a drug at the bar and l could not restrain myself because of that. I was out of my mind, please forgive me,” he said.

Chatizwa, however, insisted that the beatings are a daily occurrence.

Chizi begged to be allowed to visit his in-laws, swearing that he will be peaceful going forward.

Mr Chipato granted the protection order in Chatizwa’s favour.
The order protects her from Chizi’s violent attacks, harassments, insults and assaults.

It will be valid for five years.
