POLICE in Manicaland have called on people in the province to remain disciplined and celebrate the Heroes and Defence Forces Days in peace without committing crime.

Provincial police spokesperson Luxson Chananda said they will be out in full force to enforce the law and urged the public to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines.

He also warned against public gatherings, saying police will not hesitate to arrest those found on the wrong side of the law.

“As the nation commemorates these important days, we want to remind people to do so within the confines of the law. They must not get carried away and commit crime in the name of celebrating.

“Remember we are still under a national lockdown as we continue fighting to contain the pandemic and people whose actions violate the Covid-19 protocols like failing to observe curfew times will be arrested,” said Insp Chananda.

Insp Chananda said people must enjoy responsibly and avoid drinking and driving as this will cause road accidents. He also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travelling.
