TWO self-claimed prophets are on the run after allegedly using juju on a woman and taking turns to sexually abuse her in her matrimonial bedroom.

Tinashe Jochoma and his colleague only identified as Melusi claimed they were ‘‘cleansing’’ the woman.

The ‘‘prophets’’ would allegedly mix and burn red cloths, razor blades, snuff and zumbani leaves.

Soon after the ritual last year, Precious Sithole (25) of Hobhouse, Mutare, is said to have chased her husband away from their bedroom and asked him to give the ‘‘prophets’’ some privacy for the ‘‘procedure.’’

It is alleged that on several occasions immediately after the rituals, Sithole would lose control of her senses and would become violent towards her husband, Joshua Utete.

She would destroy household property and chase her husband away. The two men would then take advantage of Utete’s absence to abuse the victim under the guise of exorcising evil spirits from her.

When Utete finally sought the intervention of spiritual healer Madzibaba Nzira, the two got wind of it and vanished into thin air.

A furious Utete said the two took turns to abuse his wife.

He is demanding justice, and says he will not find peace until the two men account for their sins.

“At some point I had to sleep in a separate room after my wife told me that she was being cleansed by the two, especially Tinashe. At times Tinashe would sleep over in my bedroom. They retarded my wife using an intoxicating concoction.

“After inhaling fumes from the burning concoction, my wife would start hallucinating and calling Tinashe her husband.

“These two fake prophets tormented my family and l. They even brainwashed my wife to the extent that she chased me away from home. She would become violent upon seeing me.

“I am a God-fearing person who does not believe in most of this stuff. I do not know how my wife met them and what kind of assistance she wanted from them. I went through hell for two months, before approaching Madzibaba Nzira for a solution. I feared losing my wife and marriage. My wife has since recovered and says the two men were determined to push us apart,” he said.

The Weekender was in attendance when Utete consulted Madzibaba Nzira.

Sithole remained mum when asked to comment, she appeared lost.

The paraphernalia that was being used by the fugitive prophets was also burnt.

Efforts to track down Jochoma and Melusi proved fruitless.

“It’s a sad development. The two played tricks on the woman’s mind. I have prayed for her and exorcised the evil spirit cast on her. She is now a free person. There are lots of fake prophets pouncing on unsuspecting women,” said Madzibaba Nzira.

Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association president, George Kandiero said Sithole was lucky to have received timeous deliverance as the effects are irreversible in some cases.

“That’s pure witchcraft. This can be loosely translated as masaramusi, which have serious side effects on the victims,” he said.
