MOTORISTS and pedestrians have been urged to exercise caution and remain calm while observing all the regulations that govern road usage all the times.

The call was made by Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) following the increase in travelling during this festive season.

TCSZ acting director operations, research and marketing, Mr Ernest Muchena, encouraged motorists to desist from road rage that is usually triggered by frustrations as this is one of the major causes of accidents.

“While on the road, we must be considerate and tolerant of each other so as to ensure the safety of everyone from drivers to passengers and pedestrians. A courteous road user is always on the lookout for hazards and should be alert to avert accidents,” said Mr Muchena.

The call comes on the heels of two separate fatal accidents that occurred on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day just outside Mutare, which claimed a total of six people.

Meanwhile, police said they are deploying their officers on highways and other busy roads to enforce traffic safety among road users.
