FOLLOWING the intensified anti-smuggling blitz by police in Manicaland, a lorry carrying 122 bales of second-hand clothes was recently intercepted along the Shamu-Mapara road in Mutasa District.

Provincial deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident, saying police arrested Samuel Bushiri (52) of Rusape for smuggling the consignment through an illegal crossing point near Sheeba.

He said police reacted swiftly after receiving information that the lorry was ferrying the contraband to Harare.

Ass Insp Chinyoka warned those involved in smuggling to desist from the act as the long arm of the law will catch up with them.
