HARARE-based Pastor Chimbetete graced the Worship Night Music Extravaganza held at Victory Magamba in Chikanga-Mutare on Friday night 27 April 2018. The Pentecost Night Experience started at 7 pm to midnight.
Talking to Tich Tichiwangana on DiamondFM Radio after the worship night in music, Pastor Richard Chimbetete said his music was typically meditative and meant to simply get into people’s lives and help them connect with their maker.
“There is nothing else in our music except simply declaring God’s goodness and His love at His feet,” said the ‘Ipapo’ and ‘Tsoka Dzenyu’ singer, songwriter-composer.
“God gave us the mandate to restore the altar of worship in Zim and that, we will do . . . and do as best as only God wants us to be,” he said.
The gospel jazz-soul musician told Diamond FM Radio that he started recording worship music with the church group in 2009 with an album called ‘Remember Me.’
Then later on he arranged and put together a band called D28 (meaning Deutoronomy 28). The product of this initiative were seven great worship albums: 1.Your Presence, 2. Patsoka Dzenyu, 3. Faithful, 4. One More Move, 5. Munouya, 6. Believe and 7. Simply Worship which was launched on his birthday-1st February 2018.
Pastor Richard Chimbetete is married to Chenai.
They are blessed with three beautiful daughters, Nicole (16), Tinotenda (13) and Kimberly (7).
The couple discovered each other in a church choir and quickly smelled love in the air in 1998. They tied the knot in 2000.
Chimbetete is an administrator by work, he told Diamond FM.
He is an accountant by profession, a pastor by calling and a worshipper by passion.
Chenai, Pastor Chimbetete’s wife, is her husband’s and D28’s manager. The worship band travels round the country doing music ministry in churches. They provide music solutions to churches through PA systems and music instrument training.
