COPA Coca Cola Under 15 girls tournament defending champions Nyamauru High School of Dangamvura in Mutare will represent Manicaland again at this years’ national finals set for next Thursday in Kadoma.
Nyamauru will be at this year’s national finals as defending champions and will be joined by this year’s provincial representatives Gotora High from Buhera.
Nyamauru High School continued with their dominance in girls’ football when they outplayed competitors to once again win the Under 16 Copa Coca Cola provincial finals last Friday at Bumba Secondary School in Chimanimani.
Nyamauru, who are also the defending nation champions for the same tournament, have been dominating girls’ football competition for the past three years and will obviously be the team to beat at this years’ national finals to be played later this year.
Gotora High, who were beaten 3-2 by Nyamauru in yesterday’s provincial final match, will also proceed to the national finals as provincial representatives.
In the boys’ category, giants Mutare Boys failed to make it to the national finals after they were bundled out of the tournament in the group stages of the competition.
Instead, lowly rated St Noah High School of Marange were crowned champions after winning the tightly contested provincial finals.
Chapwanya High School of Buhera, who won the tournament yesterday, will proceed to represent Manicaland at the national finals this year.
Other schools that made it to the national finals in the girls’ category include Dzivarasekwa High Two, Nkankenzi Secondary, Mpopoma High, Chinyenyetu High and the hosts Jameson.
In the boys’ category, Tongwe High, Mpopoma High, Rusunguko High, Guinea Fowl High, Pamushana High and the hosts Rimuka 2 High will also be part of the national finals competition.
