THE long arm of the law finally caught up with a Chimanimani serial housebreaker who is believed to be behind the theft of goods worth thousands of dollars.
Chipinge Criminal Investigation Department spokesperson, Detective Assistant Inspector Vincent Chikuvadze confirmed the arrest of Taurai Chinyama of Mukuhunga Village under Chief Mutambara’s area of Chimanimani.
Det Asst Insp Chikuvadze said Chinyama committed the offences from February 26 to June 10.
“The accused person broke into six business premises and stole an assortment of groceries, travelling bags, clothes, mobile phones, cellphone accessories, a computer monitor and money.
“So far detectives have recovered goods worth thousands of dollars in and around Manicaland,” he said.
Dect Asst Insp Chikuvadze warned members of the public to desist from buying cellphones from individuals without proper verification.
He said Section 125 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23 criminalises receiving stolen goods
