Newly born baby dumped at farm

A NEWLY born baby girl was dumped in a drain at Tambawakaguta Farm in Rusape last Saturday.

The farm is located 3km from Rusape town along the Nyanga Highway. The bubbling girl, who was estimated to between two to three days old at the time she was picked up by a security guard at the farm owned by Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa, was taken to Rusape General Hospital.

Rusape District police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean confirmed the incident and said police were appealing for information leading to the location of the infant’s mother.

“On August 26 at around 4:40pm at Tambawakaguta Farm, situated 3km from the town along Rusape -Nyanga Highway, a security guard, Pardon Lakalaka, was carrying out perimeter checks when he heard the baby crying.

“He checked around the area and found an infant wrapped in a white towel. He immediately informed the police who attended the scene and took the baby to Rusape General Hospital.

“The baby is alive and is between two and three days old.

“We are appealing to members of the public for information that leads to the location of the infant’s mother so that she reunites with her baby who still requires her attention.

“Those who have the information can contact their nearest police station.

“We also urge people not to dump their babies no matter the circumstances,” said Asst Insp Clean.
