CITY of Mutare has called on property owners and occupants in the Central Business District to refurbish dilapidated buildings to restore and improve the city’s beauty.

The exercise must be carried out before April 8.

In a statement to the public, the local authority said it will take legal action against those who fail to comply.

“The City of Mutare wherein referred to as the Local Planning Authority is giving one-month notice to all property owners and all occupants of buildings in the Central Business District to have these repaired or refurbished and repainted. This is being done to improve the aesthetics. It can be widely agreed that most buildings in the Central Business District have gone for a long time unattended, thereby dilapidating.

“This is also in contravention of the provisions of the said Act and operative Town Planning Scheme covering the area. The corrective action should be taken not later than April 8, 2024, failure of which Council will proceed to take legal action in line with the provisions of the Act,” reads the notice.
