PREMIERSHIP hopefuls Tenax suffered a setback in their quest for promotion when they crashed to a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of fellow title aspirants FC Wangu Mazodze in a ZIFA Eastern Region Division One match played at Mucheke Stadium on Sunday.
The result means the prisons and correctional services outfit surrendered top spot to the ambitious Masvingo-based team whom they now trail by two points.
Tenax have amassed 28 points from 13 matches.
Former top-flight league side Buffaloes stayed within touching distance after overcoming Renco Mine 1-0 at Mutare Showgrounds on the same day.
The army team is on fourth position with 24 points from 13 matches.
Victory remains elusive for Manica Diamonds, who could only manage a 0-0 draw against visiting JM Busha 54 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the match between Mutare City Rovers and Ruwa was not played at Chiremba Stadium.
