THREE young boys from two primary schools in Penhalonga died on the spot, while their colleague was seriously injured after being run over by a speeding Toyota Fortuner at Toronto along the Penhalonga-Mutare Road.
The fatal accident, which plunged the mining area into deed mourning, occurred around 5pm this evening (Tuesday).
The victims were on their way home from school.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, referred all questions to national police spokesperson Assitant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, whose mobile phone was not being answered.
When The Manica Post crew visited the accident scene, the parents of the deceased were struggling to contain emotions while some neighbours tried in vain to console them.
Information gleaned by The Manica Post shows that Blessing Chisari, a Grade Two pupil at Beaule Primary, Silvyn Maponde, a Grade Six pupil at St Augustine’s Primary, and his sibling Strive Maponde (Grade Two) died on the spot.
The other victim, who was seriously injured in the accident, was rushed to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
