DRUG dealers in the province must desist from peddling dangerous substances to school-going children, police in Manicaland have warned.
Issuing a stern warning to drug traffickers in the province, Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo said they are out in full force during this school holiday to curb drug-related activities involving learners.
Inspector Muzondo said police will raid all drug hotspots and arrest the culprits.
“We are encouraging all school children on holiday to desist from abusing dangerous substances. As law enforcement agents, we are aware that there are some people trafficking drugs and targeting learners using different methods of concealment.
“Their activities are illegal and we will descend on their hideouts and deal with the culprits,” said Inspector Muzondo.
Drug and substance abuse, especially among young people, remains a major health and social concern.
Calls for a multi-sectoral approach and collective efforts by various stakeholders to curb the scourge keep growing by the day.
