AS efforts to tackle the drug and substance abuse menace continue, police have released the names of 39 people – among them men and women – involved in the scourge as barons and suppliers.
Government remains committed to fighting the peddling and use of dangerous drugs and illicit substances, with police escalating crackdowns on syndicates at their bases across the country.
Drug and substance abuse has become a major social and health concern that is plaguing many communities.
In a statement today, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said law enforcement agents are intensifying the blitz against drug peddlers.
“As the National Committee on the Elimination of Drugs and Substance Abuse has stepped up the fight against drug lords and suppliers, police names and shames the listed drug barons and suppliers. Some were convicted at court while others are on remand,” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi urged the public to report to the police any cases of drug dealing.
