PERPETRATORS of politically motivated violence must be reminded that avenging spirits will never haunt any political party but their families, Zanu PF national chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has said.

Speaking during a rally to drum up support for the ruling party at DC Mutasa Grounds today, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri, who was representing President Mnangagwa, urged Zanu PF members and supporters to remain peaceful.

She reiterated the call for youths to desist from drug abuse.

“Zanu PF members have been provoked on numerous occasion, but I am happy with the level of political maturity our members have shown. Let us remain peaceful. We also need to remind those who foster violence that avenging spirits do not haunt any political party, but their families.

“I have seen some youths who will be stone drunk. Let us assist each other on this one. We must all be actively involved in discouraging drug abuse as communities and as a nation. Let us report purveyors of drugs as well as those who are abusing drugs. Drugs kill. We are killing our future. Let us desist from abusing drugs,” said Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri.

She said the Second Republic has significantly reduced infidelity and conflicts in marriages through the provision of fuel across the country in the past five years.

“When the Second Republic came into being, there were acute shortages of fuel. We all remember those nasty days. People would sleep in queues. We managed to work hard to redress the situation. We know how men were lying to their wives and partners that they are sleeping in fuel queues but that is now a thing of the past. No doubt, the development reduced conflicts and infidelity in homes. This is one of the many noticeable achievements of the Second Republic,” she said.

Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri commended Zimbabweans for maintaining peace ahead of the elections.

“Even observers who came to observe our elections are surprised by the level of political maturity in Zimbabwe. They are actually wondering why they are here. We have been peaceful and we are conducting our elections in a mature and democratic manner. I commend all Zimbabweans for that,” she said.
