MANICALAND Bodybuilders Association recently appointed a new interim committee to run the affairs of the sporting discipline in the province.

The new committee comprises mainly new members and has the mandate to sanitise the troubled sport that has been associated with hooliganism and rowdiness in some sectors of the community lately.

A meeting held at Courtauld Theatre recently which was attended by members of Jet Studios, Sakubva Fitness Centre, Body Focus, Dangamvura Fitness Centre and Chikanga Sports Club decided to dissolve the Farai Kasecha-led committee. In an interview last week, the incoming deputy chairman of the association, Knowledge Nyamhoka said their major mandate was to sanitise people’s perceptions about the sport in the province.

“It is our biggest desire that we raise a club in the province with respectable sportsmen and not the general conception that bodybuilders are rowdy and unacceptable to society.

From that stage we can then move forward to become popular as an association,” he said.

The new appointments that were made include Tobias Madzime (chairman), Knowledge Nyamhoko (deputy chairman) and Siba Guzha (organising secretary).

Zviito Zhwao and Aaron Chinyamunzore complete the list as committee members, while the association is still hunting for a suitable candidate to hold the post of treasurer and disabled people’s representative.

The incoming committee has also set its sights on bringing this year’s edition of the Mr Ironman competition to Manicaland.
