A DRAW was probably the fair result as visiting Manica Diamonds and Harare City cancelled each other out to settle for a goalless stalemate in a Castle Lager Premiership match played this afternoon at National Sports Stadium.

It was a tale of two halves as the Gem Boys dominated the first half while the Sunshine Boys came to life in the second stanza.

However, the deadlock could not be broken as the two sides failed to find the back of the nets with their forwards misfiring in front of goal.

Jorum Muchambo kept the diamond miners in the game as his saves shut out the opponents’ forward.

The result saw Manica Diamonds leapfrog Triangle into third place, with the sugarcane growers in action tomorrow against Tenax at Sakubva Stadium.

The two teams are tied on 24 points.

Coach Johanisi Nhumwa was happy with how his team performed.

“It was a good result and we played very well away from home. The most important thing is that we managed to snatch a draw, but we should have wrapped up the game in the first half as we had an upper hand. There is no need to panic but we will continue working hard.

“We are improving and there is now cohesion in the team from defence to midfield and attack. We will continue working on our attack to ensure that we utilise the chances we create and become more consistent,” said Nhumwa.
