MANICA Diamonds bounced back to winning ways after narrowly beating ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Sakubva Stadium this afternoon.

Until today’s victory, the Gem Boys had not won in five successive matches following a loss and four draws.

The jubilation triggered on the hosts’ bench told the story of a technical team that was beginning to feel the heat and pressure of poor results.

Such was the importance of the win that it saw Manica Diamonds leapfrogging other league rivals from seventh position into fourth with 23 points from 13 games.

Forward Charles Teguru was the toast of the day as his 60th minute strike secured maximum points for the diamond miners.

He was set up by Nyasha Chintuli after the marksman collected a short throw-in from Pasca Manhanga.

Coach Johanisi Nhumwa was a relieved man after a good day in office.

Said Nhumwa: “We played a good game today. You know, if you are coming from a bad spell you are bound to struggle a bit but we managed to get victory. We are now back to winning ways and where we want to be.

“I thank my boys for their performance. In the first half we were rushing things instead of playing it simple, but the second half was okay and I am happy with the win.”
