FAST-RISING furniture and events company, Lulu’s Events and Jar Furnitures, which has branches in Masvingo and Zvishavane, has spread its tentacles to Mutare.

The company specialises in managing events such as weddings, public and private functions, parties and funerals among other things, as well as the manufacturing and selling of home and office furniture such as headboards, couches, kists, chest of drawers, cot-beds, office desks, coffee tables, shoe racks, wine racks, dining chairs and bed sets.

The company opened a new shop at the beginning of this month in Mutare, with the official launch set for November 6.

The founder of Lulu’s Events, Mrs Rudo Shoko, who is currently in Mutare, said she was determined to break new grounds and take on new challenges head-on.

The company has six permanent employees, with two of them manning the recently opened Mutare branch.

She described the development as a dream come true.

“I am prepared for the new challenge. I am one person who believes that in order for one to grow, it is important to learn at least something new on a daily basis. I believe I am destined for greater heights. I started the event business in 2009, and my partner complemented on what I was already doing as he was into videography and sound hiring.

“Business in Masvingo has been awesome after we fought hard to shrug off stiff competition from other players in the events and furniture business. Moving to Mutare is part of our aspiration to grow the business.

“We are excited because Mutare has been a market that we always wanted to tap on because of the huge business opportunities in the city. The people here have the right energy, and we want to be associated with that. It is a dream come true, and we believe we will add value to the Mutare business community,” said Mrs Shoko.

She added: “We decided to diversify because we realised that in most events where our services are hired such as corporate functions and cocktails as well as agricultural shows, they require furniture, so the cost of hiring some goods prompted us to venture into the furniture business and make things easier for ourselves,” she said.

Mrs Shoko has won several awards that include, Megafest Entrepreneur of the year (gold winner) for both at provincial level and at national level.

Lulu’s Events opened shop in 2008, while Jar Furnitures was incorporated in 2018.
