GOVERMENT, through the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), has been applauded for constructing a new block at Charleswood Clinic in Chimanimani East District.

The councillor for Ward 12, Councillor Gwinyai Muusha, said the structure comes in handy for pregnant women in the area who had resorted to travelling long distances to Mutambara and Chimanimani town to access maternity services.

He added that two buildings at the premises require renovations so that they can effectively be used as a maternity ward and residence for the clinic’s employees.

Charleswood Clinic was formerly a farmhouse before being converted into a health centre when Cyclone Idai struck the area as hospitals and clinics in the district were overwhelmed by victims who were seeking medical attention.
