FOUR unknown robbers early this morning attacked a Chipinge family and made good their escape with a Nissan Atlas truck, cash and cellphones.

The menacing robbers, who stole US$5, R500 and four cellphones, also raped a 24-year-old woman.

Mr Johane Muzoriyana said they were luck to survive the robbery.

“It was around 1am when the four robbers stormed our house. We did not know how they got inside. They first attacked my young brothers, Unity and Ian demanding money from them.

“The noise woke me up and I rushed to the room to assist my brothers. The robbers produced a gun and fired a single shot.

“They indiscriminately assaulted us while we were lying on our backs. The other robber went to a room where the woman was sleeping alone and raped her once. The menacing robbers demanded money from us and said they would shoot us if we fail to comply with their instructions,” said Mr Muzoriyana.

He said he surrendered US$5 and R500 to the robbers.

The robbers also stole their cellphones.

Mr Muzoriyana added that after taking the money and cellphones, the robbers demanded his vehicle keys.

“I complied and gave them the keys. They drove off in the car. When they left, we alerted our neighbours who helped us to make a police report,” said Mr Muzoriyana.
