FOUR schools in Chimanimani District this afternoon received brand new laptops each for their ICT laboratories as part of Government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban learning institutions.

Ndima Primary, Mutambara High, Lydia Chimonyo High and Nhedziwa High Schools each received 30 laptops from Government through the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).

The four schools are among the 40 learning institutions in Manicaland that have benefited from the Computer Lab for School project.

In a speech read on his behalf by his Deputy Minister, Honourable Dingimuzi Phuti, Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Honourable Jenfan Muswere said the ICT lab per school project is a culmination of the Ministry’s efforts to reduce  the deficit.

He said for far too long, the knowledge of ICTs has been packaged as an elitist privilege with many remote areas being left out. However, through the able leadership of  President Mnangagwa that is all changing now, added Minister Muswere.

“This status quo has been disrupted by President Mnangagwa whose clarion call is that no one and no place should be left behind. As a Ministry, we are in full support of this position and we are on a mission to equip and empower present and future generations with ICTs through rolling out ICT infrastructure solutions in Zimbabwe,” he said.
