SHE is the biggest supermodel in the world. And Naomi Campbell has revealed how she manages to keep shape, telling Dan Wootton on Lorraine on Thursday, ‘I eat when I feel like it. It can be more than one day [that I don’t eat]’.

During her interview, the iconic model admitted she was ‘‘embracing’’ turning 50 and ‘‘can’t wait’ ‘for her birthday celebrations.  Speaking on her diet, Naomi said, ‘‘It can be more than one day [that I don’t eat]. I eat when I feel like it. I don’t starve myself. ‘‘

“If I want to do a day of just not eating, I do it, and just do water or juice. In the heat sometimes I don’t, I just want to do juice, it’s too hot.’’

The television personality works hard in the gym to maintain her figure, and says turning 50 doesn’t phase her. ‘‘I’m so embracing of it. I can’t wait . . . I feel good. It’s a bit odd I must say though when I’m doing a fashion show and I’m between my two friends’ daughters,’’ she said.

‘‘But I embrace that too, I think it’s great and just think, they’re giving me a helping hand and I’ve got to run around and come back down for the finale and there’s lots of stairs and they’re like ‘we’ll help you’ and I look up and it’s daughters of my friends.

‘‘I kind of feel that’s special because their mothers embraced me and helped me when I was younger, so it’s like a 360 degrees.’ Of being officially recognised as a fashion icon’’, Naomi said, ‘‘Yes it’s an honour to receive such an award. No, I don’t [see myself as an icon].

‘‘I think the word icon just means you’ve put in your time . . .”

Naomi’s role model is undoubtedly her mother Valerie, who at the age of 67, fronted a modelling campaign for a swimwear brand. ‘‘I’m very proud,’’ the supermodel said. I wrote “go mum”. She doesn’t need advice, she gave me advice.’

Naomi was on the show to pledge her support to Lorraine’s Change + Check campaign, encouraging women to regularly check their breasts, where she gave a health update on her mother, who is in remission.

The supermodel said she’s been open in speaking about her breast cancer surviving and being in remission from cancer.

‘‘I’ve always believed that’s something you have to share as you help other people to come out. I believe when you hold things in you create a sickness. I’m really proud of her for that.’ ‘ Naomi also spoke of how ‘‘adorable’’ Prince William was on his 13th birthday, which saw supermodels surprising him at afternoon tea.

She said,  ‘‘I do remember that. He was so sweet, he was blushing, he came home from school to find these women in his home.

‘‘He was adorable. Princess Diana was so gracious. I remember she opened the front door. All our drivers thought they were going to collapse. So hands on.’’ — Daily Mail
