CHIEDZA Community Welfare Trust (CCWT) has launched a one-stop clinic at Nyamukwarara in a bid to enhance provision of quality sexual reproductive health services in rural parts of Mutasa  district.

Trust director Mrs Gladys Mukaratirwa said they launched the facility in Nyamukwarara, a community which is inaccessible due to its poor roads.

“We co-opted Government officials, including the Department of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises, who helped in the implementation of the programme,” she said.

The three-day programme saw the provision of free integrated HIV, GBV, health services and social welfare services like school health programme in which all children were screened of any kind of disease. The school health programme screened 175 children.

“The programme was a success because many villagers in Nyamukwarara reacted positively and attended all the sessions in huge numbers. The first day had more than 500 people who were assisted by the National AIDS Council (NAC) with HIV testing and counselling services, afterwards.

“The Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises offered cervical cancer screening to more than 80 women while the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) offered free short and long term family planning to all the women who attended,” said Mrs Mukaratirwa.

About 20 youths were registered for skills training under their parent  ministry.

“Our partner FACT recognised a total of 239 children and care givers who were assisted with knowledge on HIV and gender-based violence. The Department of Social Welfare assisted 73 children to acquire birth certificates,” she said.
