HUNDREDS of people from different walks of life last Friday converged at Yeovil Cemetery to pay their last respects to revered educationist, The Manica Post columnist and part-time radio presenter, Morris Mtisi.

He was 64.

Death always reminds us that despite all the capabilities we may have, despite all the achievements we may make, we are all vulnerable and helpless when one of the days it knocks on the door.

It is reality that Mtisi is no more.

It is reality that he had unfulfilled plans and dreams but he had to go.

It is reality that he had family and friends but he left them.

He was, as we all know, an education columnist.

Many liked the way he carried and conducted himself.

The man tried as much as he could to be presentable and well-behaved.

He was intelligent and committed to his work.

He loved and enjoyed what he did and he could speak his mind just like many testified. Being human, he had his weaknesses but all these could not obscure the invaluable contribution he made to society and education in Manicaland.

Rest in peace, Morris!
