MANICALAND champions, Mutare Sports Club (Shumbas) wrapped this year’s rugby season with a 24-0 emphatic win over Masvingo Rugby Club at Mutare Sports Club last Saturday.
MSC was off to a perfect start with a try in the first minute before they scored another home-run try just few minutes later.
Two more tries were dropped a few minutes to half time and the last one was scored in the second half.
MSC coach, Mckenzie Munetsi, said although they had a disappointing season this year, they would bounce back next season.
“We hope to be back on our feet next season. Changes have been put in place and we are expecting that the Shumbas will continue to improve their level of play next season,” said Mckenzie.
He said they would work on their mistakes.
“As a coach, I create opportunities for players to correct their mistakes and come 2017, we will bounce back as a force to reckon with. We used the match against Masvingo to access some of our players,” he said.
Manicaland Rugby Board chairman, Josiah Borerwe, applauded the team for their fine performance against Masvingo.
“The team played well. We believe that unity among players made this possible. As we are working towards coming up with a one 15s team and one Sevens team for Manicaland, uniting Mutare Sports Club and Mountain Lions will help us achieve the results we desire next season,” said Borerwe.
