IN a rare, but refreshing development, a galaxy of seasoned Mutare-based gospel artistes will converge and perform on one turf, headlining the album launch of rising gospel artiste, Paul Samupindi tomorrow.

Dorcas Moyo, who was one of 2023’s finest musicians, talented singer, Caroline Chidzikwe, Admire Nago, Pastor Ellen Anderson and Cloris Machuwaire will all perform with live bands in a potentially-explosive fiesta scheduled for Sunny Day Group of Schools in Dangamvura.

The album is titled Takaona Mwari and it contains six tracks, Anotida, Kuna Mwari Kudenga, Handina Bakatwa, Wakatendeka and Chakatipa Shungu.

The title is inspired by Samupindi’s rough patch and past experiences he went through.

He overcame a series of misfortunes that include spending months on a wheelchair, and struggling to sit and walk after his legs were burnt a few years ago.

The album was produced by a number of producers, among them Olin Anderson, Lyton Ngolomi and Gibson Makumbe.

Anotida talks about God’s undying love, while Kuna Mwari Kudenga is a reminder to listeners to pin their hope on God as he is always there for his people in season and out of season.

Chakatipashungu is advice to listeners to work hard, pray hard and stop dwelling on negatives and detractors.

Wakatendeka is about God’s faithfulness.

“The dream has finally come true. It was not easy to complete this project. It is a testimony of God’s never-ending love. I went through a rough patch, but I never lost hope. The new project is meant to be a pillar of hope and strength to listeners who will be going through trying times. I am glad that a star-studied line up will be there to grace the event. We will perform all songs on the album with a live band,” said Samupindi.

The launch will be open for all ages and it will held during the day.

The silky-voiced singer started singing at a tender age of 13 at Rujeko Primary School in Dangamvura.

He nurtured his musical career through joining musical groups such as Amen Gospel Crusade’s praise and worship team, AFM Dangamvura Central Choral Group and Vessels of Honour Choral Group, among others.

He marked his entrance into the mainstream gospel music industry with the Zvakandiwira album, which carried songs such as Gore, Tinotenda, Zvakandiwira and He Took My Pain Away.
