The Manica Post, a member of the Zimpapers group next Wednesday hosts an historic and major breakfast meeting in Mutare where Government ministers will make presentations and lead discussions focused on mining and agriculture.
Wednesday’s indaba follows hard on the heels of two oversubscribed breakfast meetings hosted by sister publications, The Herald in Harare, and The Chronicle in Bulawayo. The panel of ministers and businesspeople who will lead the presentations and discussions will be confirmed in due course.

Manica Post Editor Hatred Zenenga this week said the paper was excited and looking forward to the prospect of being associated with a big event of this nature, the first of its kind in Manicaland.

“The theme on mining and agriculture dovetails with the huge diamond and gold resources found in Manicaland. Serious businesspeople cannot therefore afford to miss the opportunity to hear first hand, make important contributions and dialogue with Government ministers to find solutions to the economic challenges bedevilling our country. The need to come together and map the way forward cannot be re-emphasised,’’ he said.

Zenenga added that under the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation, mining and agriculturesectors have been identified as major foreign currency earners with the potential to become the pillars for economic growth through value addition and beneficiation.

The Manica Post breakfast meeting offers the ideal platform to find solutions for the sectors as they continue to be constrained by energy and transport infrastructure challenges, depressed international mineral prices and shortage of utilities among other factors.

Invitations are being sent out to business people, community leaders and the general public. Those wishing to attend must register first.
The Harare and Bulawayo meetings proved to be highly successful and productive in unpacking the various deals covering mining and infrastructure development signed between Zimbabwe and China during President Mugabe’s recent visit to the country.

Another meeting which will focus on tourism is scheduled to be held in Victoria Falls and will be facilitated by Zim Travel, a Zimpapers publication.
