INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa has challenged ZANU PF members in Manicaland to remain united while rallying behind President Mnangagwa and the ruling party in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Senator Mutsvangwa, who is moving across the province on a unity and peace mission, last week on Saturday urged party supporters to remain united and vote for a political party that is transparent and accountable to the electorate.

She was addressing ZANU PF Women’s League members during a rally at Odzi High School.

To date, the mission has seen Minister Mutsvangwa holding well attended gatherings in Mutare West, Mutare South and Mutare North constituencies.

The rallies have seen candidates who won and lost in the recently held primary elections coming together for the good of the party.

Last week on Saturday, Minister Mutsvangwa urged ZANU PF members to bury the hatchet and know where they stand as party members.

“Know where you stand and who you will vote for come the elections day. We are voting for President Mnangagwa and all those who won during the primary elections. There were no losers during the primary elections, we are all ZANU PF members and we will vote for the development of our country,” she said.

Minister Mutsvangwa advised all those who contested and lost during the primary elections to encourage their loyal supporters to vote for those mandated to represent the party.

“President Mnangagwa has been spearheading various developments across the country, including the construction of Rwenya Bridge that was commissioned yesterday (last week on Friday). We want the party to win the 2023 harmonised elections. Our President, party and candidates will win if we unite and vote in our numbers,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

She went on to challenge party members to shun protest voting, stating that it has been proven over the years that it does not benefit anyone, but the opposition which in turn abuses power and funds.

“Opposition-led councils have failed everyone who voted for them in towns and cities. Instead of developing their areas of jurisdiction, all they care about is squandering money while service delivery goes down the drain. As voters, you should say enough is enough during the coming elections and vote the right candidates and party into power. It is time to take back the reigns in cities and towns as the revolutionary party,” she said.

Minister Mutsvangwa said the Women’s League’s should continue mobilising prospective voters to go and register as voters to achieve the five million votes target for President Mnangagwa.

“Join the winning team for real developments. We want a resounding victory during the forthcoming elections. This now is the time to do away with primary election grudges. As members of the Women’s League, help build bridges and the party should come first, shun protest votes. We do not keep grudges in the party,” she said.

Addressing the same gathering, ZANU PF Manicaland provincial political commissar, Cde Albert Nyakuedzwa, assured Minister Mutsvagwa that Mutare North and province will overwhelmingly vote for President Mnangagwa and the party.

“People in Mutare North love and rally behind the revolutionary party as evidenced by how they voted during the previous elections. The party’s structures are well up to date and we promise you that President Mnangagwa will get the most votes in this constituency,” he said.
