ZIMBABWE’S national women football team – the Mighty Warriors – will take on Botswana in the last qualifying round for a ticket to Africa Women Cup of Nations this month.

The first leg will be played in Harare on February 18, while the reverse fixture is set for Francistown five days later.

Winners of this contest will earn a slot at the Africa Women Cup of Nations finals scheduled for Morocco in July. The tournament’s semi-finalists then automatically qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals.

The Mighty Warriors are expected to start training today after ZIFA announced a 30-member squad yesterday.

Coach, Sithetheliwe Sibanda is confident the team’s foreign based stars can propel them to glory.

“We are hoping that the foreign-based players will come. As long as these players who are playing abroad are in form, they are better placed compared to the local players,” said Sibanda.

Zimbabwe progressed to the final qualifying round after defeating Eswatini 6-1 in October last year.
